Day One ....Again
Oh God.....where do I start? Let's begin with I'm a "fixer". I am a sage of sorts but lately, I'm the "sage in the cave" thanks to COVID and retirement.
As a fixer, I find a problem or a challenge and I set out to fix it; however, in my advanced age of 62, I have learned that I cannot fix everyone and everything: Namely ME. I was the "take no prisoners" boss who could fix ailing teams and lead them on the path to holding hands and singing Kumby-ya. I was actually referred to as Mr. Wolf (from Pulp Fiction) .....you get the idea. Ah....but I can't fix aging or menopause. This crap just happens .....sort of like a steam roller mowing down all my plans to tap into the fountain of youth.
In 2019, I hit a reset after retiring from a 20-year career in development and starting a new demanding job. I ate clean and joined FitBody Bootcamp. By July of 2019, I was in better shape than I had been in years but.....the stress ramped up to intolerable levels, my elderly parents needed more care and WHAM I totaled my car and sustained some injuries that made it tough to keep up the same pace. Soon the body fat percentage began to climb and my waistline disappeared. Through it all, I continued to keep a 3 day a week workout and started to try weight loss plans (Weight Watchers, Noom, FitBit Premium, Intermittent fasting). Sadly nothing kept the weight off. Sure I would make a little progress but the weight all came back.
2020 brought us COVID and limited options for exercise. God bless FitBody Bootcamp (FBBC) and the trainers who diligently Zoomed our workouts so that I could continue to keep my 3 days a week plan. After a full year of trying to rehab my knee, the orthopedic surgeon urged me to get a Peloton or something similar. I went to my local Costco in January 2021 and bought a wonderful Echelon. Even riding the Echelon 2 times a week (along with my 3 days of BootCamp), I still had no waist. It's safe to say, I may be healthy but I will never be seen in the light of day with my midriff showing, let alone in a swimsuit!
Tomorrow, October 5th, I am seeing the FBBC nutritionist/trainer to see if I can regain some semblance of a figure before I turn into an umpalumpa! I've read it takes about 21 days to form a new habit. According to Phillippa Lally; a health psychology researcher at University College London, a new habit usually takes a little more than 2 months — 66 days to be exact — and as much as 254 days until it's fully formed. With this in mind, .I've decided to keep a log for the next 66 days!
